Dyeing a wig red can be done in a number of ways. It all depends on the colors that you want to use and the type of wig that you are going to be dyeing. There are different techniques that you will want to know about when learning how to dye a wig red.
1. Get rid of any dead hair
The first step is to get rid of any dead or dry hair. If your hair is not dry, you will want to have some petroleum jelly applied to the ends to make sure that it does not split. You should also apply some hair conditioner to it to help prevent frizz and to protect the hair from the products that you are going to use to dye them.
2. Prepare the wig
Next, you will want to prepare the wig and the roots so that they will be easier to work with. To do this, you will want to take a flat surface and spray on a little bit of conditioner and your hair color. Next, remove all of the tapes that are on the base of the wig to allow for airflow into the wig. If your wig has lace or hair that is attached, this is very important.
3. Spray the wig with conditioner
Remove the lace or hair from the base and then remove the wig from the base. Once you have the wig out of the base, you will need to get ready to put the wig in the conditioner. You should spray the wig with conditioner and then run your fingers under the base of the wig and flip it over so that you can spray it with conditioner all the way around the base. Do this for each section of the wig until you have removed all of the conditioners from the base of the wig.
Once you have the conditioner all the way out of the base of the wig, you will need to put it back into the wig. You will want to spray your hands with conditioner again to help ensure that you do not get it into the wig while you are putting it in. Put the wig in place and cover it with a bandage. Once you have covered the base with the bandage, it is time to dye the wig red.
4. Apply the dye to the wig
In order to ensure that you are successful in getting the dye to be successful in the color of your hair, you will want to make sure that you are waiting for the dye to sit for the right amount of time. You will want to let the dye sit for a few hours before you are getting ready to put the wig into a wig. You will want to apply the dye to the base of the wig first. Then, you will want to spray the hair with conditioner and then apply the dye to the hair.
After you have applied the dye to the base of the wig, you will want to go over the wig with a color dye. This will help ensure that the dye does not run down the front of the wig and make it look funny. You will want to cover the base of the wig with a bandage and wait for the dye to sit for a couple of hours.
5. Wash the wig
When you are ready to get the wig in place, you will want to take a blow dryer and heat the base of the wig to make sure that the dye is set in the hair color that you are dyeing. You will want to apply a bit of the conditioner that you were going to use before to help keep the hair in place. Once you have done that, you will want to wash the wig with shampoo so that you can get rid of the excess dye that has been left behind.
